RTI's messaging technology connects systems of hundreds of computers into a single, networked architecture. RTI cleanly integrates peer-to-peer publish-subscribe messaging with databases, complex event processing (CEP), and advanced visualization. RTI's technology has been proven in hundreds of mission-critical applications in defense, intelligence, financial services, medical, transportation, communications, and industrial control.

RTI also has an active presence in standards organizations, including the Object Management Group (OMG) and Open Group, Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC). Most recently, RTI served as the primary author for the OMG's Data Distribution Service (DDS) for Real-Time Systems standard. DDS standardizes the software application program interface (API) by which a distributed application can use Data-Centric Publish/Subscribe (DCPS) communication.

Founded by Stanford University scientists in 1991, RTI is privately held and headquartered in Silicon Valley.

• 2003 - RTI submits draft DDS standard. Navy adopts DDS as key to Navy OA standard.
• 2004 - DDS standard approved by the OMG. RTI ships Linux tools to MontaVista and Wind River.
• 2005 - RTI sells ScopeTools to Wind River. License growth up 50 percent, services up 135 percent.
• 2007 - RTI gains momentum in finance industry. RTI extends solution to CEP.
